I created this blog a little while ago and it has been sitting here ever since...patiently waiting for me to come grace it with my presence. And even though there is nothing here yet, already this little space has had quite a few hits (thank you google analytics for that information). And, as I mentioned it in a post a week ago, over at my home blog, Art Asana. I decided it was time to finally set up and introduce you to the 1,000 hours of Yoga blog!
So, welcome.
Here is what I have envisioned for this space: nothing fancy, probably no pictures (unless I get brave enough to take pictures/video of myself in my yoga practice), probably long gaps between posts (unless I decide it feels right to post more often), and most likely not that much content....are you ready to leave yet? Well, if I am not holding your attention, feel no obligation to stay. But, if you do happen to be intrigued by what might happen here in this recording of hours of yoga practice and/or you want to chime in and share your own experience with your yoga practice,
then I welcome you with open arms.
What I do have planned for this blog is to simply record my hours, to update the world out there about my practice in here in my little yoga/art studio space, and most importantly, hold myself accountable for getting to my mat.
Perhaps, on days when I am feeling most inspired, I will write some thoughts about my practice, share a quote that inspired it..perhaps, I might even get into the habit of journaling about my practice regularly.
Perhaps....
So, do you want to know what inspired this whole self-challenge? I am sure, over years time, I will complete 1,000 hours of yoga anyway. And, I'm sure I've spent countless hours practicing and studying yoga already (500 hours if I were to add together just some of the trainings I've done...not including the four months I spent at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health and not including all the hours in weekly classes and on my own).
But, I am counting from here and now.
So I started on April 28th, 2010 to record my hours and created the following contract with myself:
Heart Contract
April 28, 2010
I, Eliza, will practice 1,000 hours of yoga with the intention of becoming more deeply connected to my heart.
In return, my heart will show me the way to freedom and abundance through following my heart’s mission.
At the end of my 1,000 hours of yoga, my heart will have shown me how to do what I love, being truly who I am.
I have many incredible gifts to give to the world and through 1,000 hours of yoga, my heart will lead me to root to the earth so that my creative spirit may rise.
My heart will teach me to support my dreams, support others in their dreams, support causes I believe in and live fully in my greatest creative potential.
I, Eliza, will follow this sacred contract, learn to listen to my heart and let my heart lead.
and with that...my journey begins, or perhaps I should say...continues.
